Jennifer Dean, M.D., leads Johns Hopkins All Children’s collaboration with the Children’s Oncology Group. The hospital based in St. Petersburg leads Florida in enrolling patients in studies.
Hello, I'm Doctor Jennifer Dean, a pediatric oncologist here at Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital. I'm also the site principal investigator for Children's Oncology Group here at all. Children's at all. Children's. We have participated in children's oncology group for many years and I'm proud to say that we participate in a way that brings clinical trials to patients here in Florida. We are in the 74th percentile for our numbers of studies and enrollments. We average about 60 to 70 enrollments in clinical trials through children's oncology group each year. And we are the top in Florida as far as numbers of patients enrolled in interventional trials. It is so important in pediatric oncology that we participate in these clinical trials through children's oncology group and through other research consortiums in our research portfolio, we have over 100 research studies that we are able to enroll patients on and these studies are a wide array of different um things from therapeutic studies to supportive care to registry studies in children's oncology group. We've been able to participate in both their interventional trials as well as their early phase trials, which is so important for our patients here in Florida and in the larger area, our team here at all children's Hospital that supports this research is large. We have our physicians who are um specializing in different tumor types in hematology as well. Our nurses research coordinators, all of the different staff that helps us support these studies. We know that it's so important in pediatric oncology to participate in clinical trials. And that over the past decades, we've gone from only curing about 50% of patients to now, we can cure close to 80%. But our work is not done yet in pediatric oncology and we will continue to participate so that we can improve those outcomes both in numbers of patients who are cured, but also in trying to control their acute side effects and long term side effects. Here at all, children's, we are dedicated to taking care of these patients and providing the best care possible and providing the ability to enroll on clinical trials that will impact their outcomes. Thank you.
